Designed for horses for TOTAL digestive health and during times of gastrointestinal (GI) upset.
What is PROTEK GI? PROTEK GI is Kelato's ultimate supplement, targeting both foregut and hindgut health.
The research shows that daily supplementation with PROTEK GI reduces the incidence and severity of gastric ulcers.
PROTEK GI's unique formulationtargets foregut and hindgut health by providing coating agents that form an alkalineslime barrier over the stomach wall to help protect against acid burn while buffering gastric acid and strengthening the mucosal lining. Levucell SC® yeast probiotic and Agrimos® yeast prebiotic work synergistically to help reduce lactic acid in the hindgut (stabilizing hindgut pH) and stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria.
PROTEK GI is formulated in collaboration with world leading EGUS authority Dr Ben Sykes (BSc BVMS MS MBA DipACVIM PhD FHEA).
How does it work?
1. Coats Stomach Lining: Pectin forms a gel-like layer over the stomach to help to support the lining against the corrosive effects of gastric acid.
2. Buffers Gastric Acid: Antacids stabilize (buffer) stomach pH to help reduce irritation to the stomach lining.
3. Supports Healthy Stomach Lining: Lecithin is a phospholipid that improves the integrity of the epithelial cells to help maintain a healthy stomach lining.
4. Supports Hindgut Health: Levucell SC® yeast probiotic and Agrimos® yeast prebiotic work synergistically to help reduce lactic acid in the hindgut (stabilizes pH) and stimulate the growth and activity of beneficial bacteria.

What’s the new research saying?
PROTEK GI can help your horse transition from treatment to management.
The risk of squamous ulcers returning is highest in the 2–4 days following omeprazole treatment. A strong focus on management practices can be implemented to protect the stomach during this time, but omeprazole tapering may be a thing of the past. Click HERE to check out this new research.
In highly ulcerogenic environments, squamous ulcers can return to pre-treatment levels in as little as 3 days. To read on this research click HERE.
Transitioning to PROTEK GI (also known as GastroAID Recovery) when you need to stop omeprazole, has been shown to reduce the recurrence rate of squamous ulcers in a high-risk population of racehorses. To read more on this research click HERE.
PROTEK GI can help minimize the risk of squamous ulcers returning in the crucial 2 – 4 day window after stopping omeprazole.
PROTEK GI 11.5 lbs (5.25 kg) is the perfect transition size! This tub will give your horse a 3-week supply* during the highest period of ulcer recurrence post omeprazole treatment.
*based on the recommended feeding rate for a 1100 lbs (500 kg) horse.
Looking for a long-term supply of PROTEK GI? We have got you covered with a 23 lbs (10.5 kg) size.

Quick improvement
My mare was showing signs of GI upset, so I started her on Protek GI. Within a few days I noticed improvement in her symptoms. My only issue is that it's difficult to get her to finish the full dosage for her weight because it's a lot of powder, even when mixed with soaked feed.

Picky eater
My unbelievably picky horse actually eats this and licks his bowl clean. After consulting with Kelato nutritionist, she confirmed that I can mix the product with water and feed it. It turns into a thick cake batter like consistency but my horse loves it. Otherwise the powder is so light that my horse blows it away with each sniff.
I can’t speak to its efficacy yet as my horse is still on Gastrogard and Misoprostol. In hopes that the Protek GI will aid in making the transition successful.

We believe
My barn manager is very knowledgeable and experienced, and approaches the world of supplements with skepticism and practicality, but we both agree that Protek GI seems to be one of the ones that really work. I’ve got that horse in the barn that has a million health issues including severe (as bad as it gets) squamous and pyloric ulcers scoped in June. I added Protek to her diet at the midpoint of her treatment and have kept her on it for 8 months since, and she never backslid in terms of ulcers symptoms as we tapered her off the meds. She’s still happy and comfortable. I’ll update my review once I rescope next month. 4 stars just because of the cost.

Yes, there is an answer to the timeless problem.
I have tried psyllium husk, and bentonite clay, struggled for months to get control.
This seems to have worked.
Very pleased.

I've only just started tapering Larry onto the Protek GI so I can't speak to the product itself as of yet but the customer service was amazing. I had many questions and they were extremely responsive and informative with each of my emailed questions. We haven't worked up to a full dose yet but so far my picky eater has been eating the product without issue. Hopeful for great results for my ulcer prone guy!

She actually eats it!
My horse is very picky but soaked with her grain and a little water and she licks her tub clean. She's been on it for about 2 weeks and so far I've noticed less fussing on the crossties, less yawning and much more comfortable under saddle.

Great product
This is the best ulcer/gut supplement on the market. Would rather use this than ulcergard.

Amazing
I am so thankful and happy that my vet recommended this product to me. It is amazing. My horse was having reoccurring ulcers, was on ulcerguard for 5 months straight and was still having colic issues. I started this product and I was able to take him off ulcerguard completely and I’ve had him on it for about a year now with no signs of ulcers. My horse also loves it and he’s pretty picky!

Brilliant Product!
My 6 year old struggled with ulcers that would just come right back once treatment was finished. With ProtekGI, we’re 4 months ulcer-free!
